‘Castle’ season 9: Seamus Dever reportedly signs on, provided ABC renews show

While we unfortunately still cannot tell you one way or another if “Castle” will return for a ninth season, we at least can pass along this following bit of information: Seamus Dever will return for certain in the event the show is renewed.

According to a report from Deadline, Dever has signed a deal to return to the show provided of course that ABC decides to renew it. He joins Nathan Fillion in having a deal done; we’re still waiting to determine what the future holds for Jon Huertas, but all signs to him also signing on.

It’s no real surprise here that Seamus is back on board, given that he told us earlier this season that he enjoys doing the show and didn’t envision a situation where he would leave under his own accord.

The past few weeks have certainly been stuffed to the brim with all sorts of behind-the-scenes drama when it comes to “Castle,” mostly because of the announcement that both original cast members Tamala Jones and Stana Katic will be gone if the show returns. Originally, there were reports that ABC would decide by the end of Friday as to whether or not the show would be renewed, but since that time they have apparently decided to wait on the decision. We figure that they have to formally decide one way or another soon, if for no other reason than that the network has to attach an ending to the upcoming May 16 finale, and it’s not exactly like they have a heck of a lot of time to do so.
