‘Silicon Valley’ season 3, episode 2 preview: Meet the new Pied Piper!

Silicon Valley -

On this past episode of “Silicon Valley,” we had a chance for the first time to meet the new CEO of Pied Piper in Jack Barker. He’s been extremely successful elsewhere, and with that, we understand why he was brought on the wake of Richard Hendricks’ demotion. Luckily, Richard was convinced to stay on board at the end of the episode as CTO, thanks in part to what we would consider some pretty shrewd manipulation on the part of Barker to convince him to stick around.

On Sunday night’s new episode, we’re going to get a chance to see the new Pied Piper in action. Isn’t that great news? Sure, but what we are starting to see at the moment is that Barker has certainly moved forward without really much regard for what the original team thinks or feels. There’s a new logo, there are a ton of potential new hires, and really everyone is just left feeling confused.

Insofar as we as viewers go, the good news here is that it certainly seems as though we’re going to be entertained. This has all of the makings of being a fun, crazy episode; while we did not necessarily think that the premiere matched the level of quality from the second season, it did still give us a really funny show with a lot to be hopeful about. (To be fair, we also think that the first episode of last season was one of the weaker ones of the run.)
