‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ episode 11 rankings: Tai, Jason in danger; is Aubry almost too good?
“Survivor: Kaoh Rong” is shaping out more and more to be a season for the women. While we’ve seen some of the men make big moves, they’ve often been brash and not really with their own best interest in mind. Take Scot and Jason as an example of the former by being so confident and aggressive, and you can argue that Tai could be an example of the latter. We may argue instead in the rankings below after having so much time to think about it.
As usual with these articles, we’re looking at strategy, edit, challenge ability, and threat level as big factors. We’re also asking a simple question to go along with all of this: Can [insert person here] really win the game?
7. Joe Del Campo (last week: 8) – With Joe, it’s that last question that gets him in trouble. He’s in a strong alliance, but his edit coupled with the lack of strategic move-making we’ve seen from him suggests that the jury would almost never hand him the money, unless he’s there with someone like Jason. (With the timing of the season we’re almost convinced that a final two is coming.) If Joe was there with Jason, we feel like we’d be seeing more of him.
6. Kyle Jason (5) – He’s the obvious target now, mostly because he has no idol, and has nothing to make people want to work with him. Yet, we think it’d be in the best interest of Tai, Julia, and Michele to for a few weeks, so that they can eliminate Aubry and Cydney in particular. They can always eliminate Tai later if they’re worried about him, but they need him as a number. If Jason can convince people to get on his side, maybe we’ll start to think of him in better standing.
5. Tai Trang (3) – Upon reflection, Tai letting Scot go home may not have been that terrible a move for him. If Aubry went his side would still be down 4 – 3 in the numbers, and guess who’d be the biggest target of them as a jury threat? Maybe you can say Julia would flip, but she’s also expressed an interest in getting Tai out. We think it doesn’t hurt him to keep that idol, but we just don’t see a path for him to an end (though he’d surely win if he makes it) unless he wins a bunch of challenges.
4. Cydney Gillon (2) – The more that we saw Jason and Scot talk about her, the more we think that those are two votes at the end Cydney will almost certainly not get. We don’t think Neal knew a lot about her, and Nick was called out by her. She’s played a very strong game, but we’re not sure she has the votes with this particular jury based on its construction right now over the ladies about to be mentioned.
3. Michele Fitzgerald (1) – This one hurts, mostly because we thought for weeks that she was the person in the best position. However, eventually you have to make some moves to get yourself votes in the end, and what is the biggest thing that Michele can take ownership of besides being a part of the coalition that took out Nick? We think any of the three people above could beat her; she may have a shot against Cydney if the boys are bitter.
2. Julia Sokolowski (6) – We may eat our lunch for ranking Julia this high because we could easily see her gone in an episode or two, but at the same time we think that she’s played one of the better, more-interesting games this season. Her problem is that her double-dealing is somewhat transparent, so she really needs to have a bigger target around her until close to the end.
1. Aubry Bracco (3) – Maybe to a certain extent Aubry is now too much of a threat for her own good, but we cannot deny how awesome of a game she’s played lately. She’s made some big moves, and was especially brilliant this past week with Tai. Most importantly, we think that almost every jury at the moment likes and respects her. She’s a slam dunk if she gets there and makes a good argument against anyone, maybe even Tai.
