‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: See JoJo Fletcher move on from Ben Higgins in first promo

As promised, ABC unveiled the first promo for the new season of “The Bachelorette” tonight, and while it did not exactly tell you a whole lot about the season, it does at least give you some sort of idea as to what sort of tone the network is going to go far while promoting the upcoming episodes.

Specifically, it looks like they’re not selling JoJo Fletcher as a sad story in the slightest (which is nice). Sure, the network still seems to be exploiting her past with Ben Higgins more than actually telling people anything about her, but that’s really to be expected from them at this point. It reminds viewers quickly of what happened, and they can digest that easier than knowing anything else about her.

From here, Demi Lovato’s “Confident” plays in the background as we see JoJo in a strong, empowering light alongside words like “take it” and “confident.” It tells you that she’s going to be in control of this season, and she in turn will be making some big decisions for her future. We like the presentation of this, and we hope that it’s the right combination of funny, romantic, and dramatic. This is something that “The Bachelorette” as a show probably has not nailed completely since Emily Maynard’s season; Desiree Hartsock probably had one of the best love stories, but you can argue that her season was far from the most exciting.

As it is mentioned below, the new season is going to premiere on Monday, May 23 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
