‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12: Will Ben, Bailey’s marriage survive latest crisis?

Ben -

Mrs. Carter: What’s going to be coming up down the road for Ben and Bailey on “Grey’s Anatomy“?

It’s an interesting question, especially in the aftermath of what we just ended up seeing on the two-hour episode that aired on ABC Thursday night. While the two did not split up, Ben being suspended from his job is the sort of thing that you would imagine would cause a ripple … especially when you remember that Bailey is his boss in addition to his wife. That’s a difficult roadblock for anyone to navigate, given that Ben being in the position that he is in as a surgical resident, this could impact his entire career.

We really cannot speak to what the future is going to hold in terms of Ben’s career, largely because that is no what the focus of this particular article really is about, and also because we imagine the series will figure that out in due time. Jason George is still a regular on the show, so the writers are going to find some other ways to include him beyond just him working at the hospital.

As for the relationship, there’s a reason to have confidence that the tension and drama surrounding the suspension will not lead to any long-term ramifications.

1. Ben’s a professional – He may not have liked it, but he knows that this is the position Bailey is in as chief to make these sort of tough choices.

2. They’ve certainly been through much worse already – Just look at some of their other work conflicts, and also Ben being away for long stretches of time. They got through all of that, so they should be able to get through this.

3. Aren’t there enough breakups on this show as it is? – In keeping Bailey and Ben together, you give the show a greater degree of relationship diversity. You already have a couple in a divorce in April and Jackson.
