‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Bobby Moynihan makes Julia Louis-Dreyfus extra Presidential
If there is one thing that we know about “Saturday Night Live” through watching so many years of the show, it is this: They are sticklers to tradition. Therefore, it is headline news anytime that they do choose to implement something that is a little bit off of the beaten path.
Take, for example, the new video below, where we have something we rarely ever seen for an “SNL” promo: A second clip taking place away from the famous studio. As of late, the trend has been having these out-on-location promos featuring a host and cast members, before eventually going back to the studio for one with a musical guest. To be fair, even going out on location once is somewhat new; we still vividly remember when these were all done in-studio for years.
So why didn’t we go back to studio with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and musical guest Nick Jonas this week? It’s hard to say, but instead of that one coming out we instead have the clip below, which features the “Veep” star having a bit of fun with Bobby Moynihan in the same coffee shop we saw the first time … and rather than a series of different jokes, this one is an extended bit in which he tries to sing / mum “Hail to the Chief” for as long as he possibly can. Let’s just say that the end result here is a little bit mixed for Bobby, who goes from excited to sad to exhausted in the span of a few seconds. For us? There’s no question that this is pretty hilarious, which is why we’re not so bummed about the shake-up from tradition.
