‘NCIS’ season 13, episode 20 reaction: Is Tony DiNozzo thinking about leaving?
Throughout the past several weeks, one of the big questions that we’ve wondered for “NCIS” is how in the world they are going to write the Tony DiNozzo character out of the show. He loves the team, and with that in mind it’s very hard to figure out precisely why the character would want to leave. Also, it would be terrible for the show to kill him off, and possibly unforgivable for some of the show’s fans.
While there was no confirmation that Tony is leaving during Tuesday night’s new episode “Charade,” we did at least get a few seeds that were planted that could eventually point us in that direction. First and foremost, Tony is starting to realize that he is losing his edge. He was duped by a woman into getting his identity stolen, and then had some low-rate actors running around and impersonating him. After being around some of the impersonators, he was reminded of how his job basically overwhelms him, and he does not have so many other things that people want in life.
Eventually, Tony found this former flame who had ripped him off, and then ended up linking her to a Senator’s aide who killed one of the impersonators to keep him from squealing.
Some of the scenes with Tony and the phonies were fun tonight, but we’d still argue that this episode was a foundation to something larger that is coming in the next few weeks. He has to be more aware than ever that he should be making more money than he is, and have more of his life together. There are other opportunities out there for him to have his cake and eat it too.

I must have missed something — why is Weatherly leaving the show?

Apparently a personal decision to work on other projects…

If Tony leaves to “find himself” color me disappointed. But then I doubt that the writers are allowed to let him be flattered by getting his own team, or heaven forbid, be a hero one last time. Gibbs is so cold and disapproving of Tony at this point I guess the audience is supposed to understand that Tony deserves no accolades since Gibbs is always had to be right these days. No doubt the finale will be full of Gibbs angst and heroism, just like every other episode Glasberg writes. They will also be trying to generate interest in the new cast members. One wonders if there will be much of any time left for Tony’s randomly cobbled together, poorly written existential crisis. My guess is No. Ever since Mr. Glasberg and his favorite executive producer took creative control the only character who gets much of any thought is Gibbs almighty.

I just write the truth and do my best to refrain from launching nasty personal attacks on total strangers just because I don’t agree with their posts.

You’re defaming people because you don’t like the show anymore. How is that the truth?
