NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 10 schedule suggests another huge elimination coming
There were a couple of clear complaints about “The Voice” season 9. The Battle Rounds were still there, the eventual winner in Jordan Smith was hugely hyped from the start to the point where his (deserving) coronation was obvious, and they for some reason decided to do a complete bloodletting of an elimination right before the finale. They took their time eliminating contestants in the live shows, and then cut the competition more than half.
What does this mean? To us, we identify it by this: The competition effectively puts itself in a position late in the game where a favorite has one bad week, and could be sent home while they would have been safe in any other situation. It adds drama for sure, but it severely disrupts the narrative.
Well, we don’t have good news. In a schedule update for season 10 uncovered by Mjsbigblog, it is revealed that we could have yet another super-massive elimination a little bit later this season where the majority of the field is eliminated. Ugh. We could go on to complain about a few other issues from the show, as well, given that the Battles are still there and the show really seems to want Alisan Porter to win. In a sense we get it since she’s insanely talented, but we’d like to see her win without getting the primo placement in almost every show.
The Knockout Rounds are going to continuing until next week, and the live shows will begin starting a week from Monday. Therefore, there’s no reason to worry about it colliding with the end of “American Idol.”
