ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 spoilers: More on Susan Ross’ secret

At the end of Thursday night’s new episode of “Scandal,” we had a trade-off between Alex Vargas (Danny Pino) and Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) that could have some further ramifications for many people in the cast. She told him about some of Edison’s secrets in rehab, and in turn, she received some valuable information on Susan Ross, something that could have long-term reverberations for the remainder of the season.

As to what these reverberations could be, you may have to wait a little while in order to find out. For the time being, hopefully the following tease from Pino to TVLine will be enough to wet your whistle:

“It is something that will have repercussions for Susan Ross politically and personally. It is the kind of thing that when you find that out, you would read it in a tabloid and think that it’s not true.”

Regardless of what it is, we do have to think that it’s surprising given that we’ve found the Susan character to be the sort who almost doesn’t have any secrets. She’s fairly by-the-book and highly intelligent, so we really don’t want to imagine some of the skeletons in her closet being tied to her in some way.

Then again, stranger things have happened in the world of this show … and there will probably be stranger things still regardless of whatever takes place with Susan moving forward. It’s something we look forward to discussing much more as we move into the future.
