‘Chicago PD’ season 3 spoilers: Sophia Bush says big Lindsay – Halstead episode delayed (for now)

If you are one of those people who was hoping for a big spotlight on Lindsay and Halstead during some upcoming episodes of “Chicago PD,” we have some news for you now: Things are apparently changing course.

Speaking per TVLine while at PaleyFest Saturday for a panel commemorating Dick Wolf’s achievements, series star Sophia Bush made it clear that due to some circumstances, a planned installment about Lindsay and Jesse Lee Soffer’s character taking a road trip to Green Bay, while exploring elements of their past along the way, is going to have to wait for a while:

“It’s certainly not something we’re going to show this season … I know that [executive producers/writers] Derek [Haas] and Michael [Brandt] were very excited about it. They [even] wrote a script … [However]. It didn’t feel appropriate to have that happen on the heels of [the big story with Yates]. Our show is very often dealing with sensitive material, especially with where we are at the end of our third season. It didn’t work energetically or in a linear way to do a show that felt a little bit like a departure and had so much comedy in it.”

This show is grounded is so much reality that it probably would have been a little bit out-of-character to have the story happen now. Yet with that being said, there will be some further opportunities to tell this story or something similar in the future. While we’re not sure anything will ever be blue-skies in the world of “Chicago PD,” there will be happier times for Erin Lindsay. There has so far over the course of the series’ run.
