‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ video: The challenge that leads to medical crisis

Odds are that if you’re a “Survivor” fan, you’ve already seen the brutal previews of Wednesday night’s new episode that feature multiple players in a major medical crisis. This has been called in advance one of the most dramatic and harrowing episodes that the show has ever done, and it could all be about the challenge introduced in the video below by John Kirhoffer.

On paper, this actually doesn’t seem that different than many of the other challenges that we’ve seen on the show over the years. There’s a huge digging component to it, and a skill game that seems almost like a gigantic version of something you’d find at a carnival. We know that there are probably going to be people out there wondering if the show is doing enough to care for its contestants after tonight’s new episode (there always is anytime that some sort of big medical situation happens), but on paper we’d say that this doesn’t look altogether more challenging than anything else the show has devised.

Could they have done some more water challenges to cool the players off? Maybe, but we don’t know what the conditions of the water are and they can change on a daily basis.

Anyhow, the thing that likely makes this so challenging is that the heat is worse than it’s been on almost any other season, especially when you factor in things like humidity and the hot sand that the players are digging in. We’re not going to speculate on injuries or evacuations, mostly because we’re going to find out in a few hours anyway.
