‘The X-Files’ season 11: Talking renewal odds, hopes for Gillian Anderson – David Duchovny series

X-Files -Tonight, the six-episode tenth season of “The X-Files” is coming to a close, and with that in mind we’re already starting to think about the future.

Will there be an eleventh season? In many ways, we feel greedy almost for asking for it since at this point a year and a half ago getting a tenth season was not even a blip on the radar. We would’ve done a victory dance even if we were to get one more episode of the show.

Of course, it’s not exactly like producers or the stars have tried to stop any speculation that there could be more of the show. They’ve seen what the ratings are, and just how much buzz we’ve seen around seeing Mulder and Scully on TV again. That’s why if they had it their way, they would probably come back and do some more in the future. We feel like Fox probably shares the sentiment. Unless tonight’s finale is a flop for whatever reason (which we doubt, given that there is no Grammy competition this time around), we see the network wanting to get into discussions once again with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny alongside creator Chris Carter on where to go from here with the story.

We would hope that another season would be announced before we get around to Fox’s upfront presentation in May; we’re okay if there is not another batch for some time. We’d long said that we’d be fine if the show adopted a model similar to “Sherlock” where maybe the cast reunites every couple of years to tell more stories. This way, there is less burnout, and everyone involved continues to be able to do some other things.
