‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ premiere video: The first five minutes; also, the first injury?
The premiere of “Survivor: Kaoh Rong” is coming on the air in a mere matter of hours! Who’s excited? It’s pretty hard not to be, given all the hype. As much as we may have enjoyed the whole “Second Chance” experience, we’re glad that we’re dealing with the vintage game again featuring all-new players getting to compete for the first time. There’s just something about the thrill of the unknown, and learning who players are for the first time.
Do we get a chance to learn a little bit about some of these people in the very first five minutes of the show? We’d argue so. You can see what is basically the marooning below via Entertainment Weekly, and several players make interesting first impressions.
1. We really dig Scot Pollard. He’s an interesting guy, he has a good outlook on the game, and in this preview we feel like he articulates what he’s about very well: Being the cleanup guy who does things that not everyone else will. Also, we see that Kyle looks at this like a job (very Brian Heidik-like), while Anna vows to use her looks to her advantage if need be.
2. We really feel for “Survivor” chickens who get thrown into this situation. Apparently, so does Tai. He’s going to be the guy who everyone in this game loves.
3. Caleb’s already being a little bit of a showman as you can see with the way he gets off of the boat. Maybe he’s over-the-top, but if he’s contributing to the tribe we’re not sure people will mind.
4. Nick and Peter both come off as a little smug, while Debbie is going to be our one-liner machine in the early going. Clearly, the Coach comparison applies.
5. Joe Del Campo is awesome. He’s got a great story, and we hope he lasts longer than a few days.

Given how much this show is hyping up the medical situations, we also felt we’d share another sneak peek that gives us what may be the first potential medical crisis of the season. Apparently, a bug gets stuck in Jennifer’s ear on the Brawn tribe, and her fellow tribemates have to help her to deal with the excruciating pain. Judging from the end of this video it seems as though the situation is taken care of before the immunity challenge; we’ll just have to see if that ends up being the case.
