ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5, episode 10 video: Mellie pays Olivia Pope a visit

Thursday night’s winter premiere of “Scandal” is going to be a heck of a big episode, and there is of course one big question that we have already: Are we really about to see Mellie Grant work with Olivia Pope? At one particular point in time, this would be been probably the sort of thing you saw when hell froze over. Now, it’s something that could be an actual possibility.

Just in case you’re wondering further how this all comes about, the sneak peek below makes it clear that this is mostly a function of the fact that Mellie wants to run for President, and she does know very well the person to go to when it comes to such a campaign. Olivia knows what to tell her, and also what to do to the public to make them believe that Mellie’s message is the best one. Mellie may even think that there is a kinship between herself and Kerry Washington’s character, given that Olivia took off from a life with Fitz at the end of the first half of the season. (Six months will have passed since that point and where we are now.)

For the time being, Olivia doesn’t seem too game to follow along with Mellie’s current plan, but who knows? Maybe that will change once she sinks her teeth into the book that Mellie brought over, and she starts to think more about if there is something that she could gain from Bellamy Young’s character being in power.
