‘Castle’ season 8: Beckett confirmation for ‘Dead Red’
It seems almost strange that we would be in an era where we’d need to confirm Stana Katic’s presence in a “Castle,” but that’s where we are in the wake of some very Beckett-light installments in the first half of season 8, coupled with her not appearing at all in “Cool Boys” earlier in the season.
When we saw the preliminary synopsis for the episode “Dead Red” (airing on February 15), we had no confirmation that Beckett was going to be in the episode. Now, we’ve seen the full description, it makes it very clear that both Beckett and Castle are working together in some capacity on the case of a Russian diplomat’s son:
“When the son of a Russian diplomat turns up murdered, Beckett and Castle find themselves in a dangerous game of international crime and punishment, with Castle having to entertain a jovial Russian security officer who winds up more involved than anyone planned.”
This case does certainly have at least some potential to us to be extremely entertaining, mostly because of things we’ve said previously: It’s always fun to see Castle mess things up, even when it makes life harder for just about everyone else. At least now we know that he’s got Beckett nearby in the event that he needs her to get him out of some trouble, which knowing Rick he’s almost sure to do.
As for whether or not the two characters are finally stopping the whole “pretend breakup” thing by this point, that remains to be seen. For now, we have to assume that this is an idea the writers are going to play out for a while longer.

I just kinda feel like they’ve been all over the place really messy this season. I like Alexis helping out more, and I like the new English girl too.
But it just seems like an overload on all the new stuff. Like I said, making it feel messy :c

Personally I’ve never enjoyed the episodes where Castle is nothing but an incompetent clown. I just don’t see someone as successful as the character supposedly is acting constantly like he has an IQ somewhere about 90 or lower.
