‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ spotlight: Will Cydney Gillon be a force on the Brawn tribe?

Cydney -

What we really like about “Survivor” casting is that every now and then, we do get characters who we haven’t seen on the show in a long time, if ever. Cydney Gillon is one of those people. We don’t see many female bodybuilders period, let alone ones on reality TV. She’s also got a big personality to go along with that, which gives us hope that she is going to be really fun to watch over the course of the season.

Now, let’s just hope she lasts long enough to watch her. Take a look at our full spotlight piece below for some further analysis of her game!

Age – 23

Location – Douglasville, Georgia. It’s a town about 30 minutes out of Atlanta.

Tribe -To Tang a.k.a. the brawn tribe.

Occupation – Bodybuilder. She’s been doing this for years, and has achieved some level of acclaim for it, as well. One of our best friends is a former bodybuilder, so we know that there’s a heck of a lot of discipline, training, and time that goes into this. It’s certainly not something that anyone can do.

Past “Survivor” comparison – We absolutely love that she compares herself to Tony Vlachos, and not just because he may be our favorite player of all time when you combine entertainment and gameplay into one package. Is she really like Tony, though? We envision her as a little bit more of a straight shooter, though, maybe someone more along the lines of a Stephenie or maybe even a Colby who will work hard and compete in challenges with some strategy here and there.

Things to know – Her goal is to be a trainer for the Atlanta Falcons, she also has attended medical school, and she, per her bio, received the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Pro card at the age of 20. She’s accomplished quite a bit while still being very young person, and that screams “motivated.”

Advantages – She’s going to be incredibly determined, and should be an asset both in challenges and around camp. Also, she says that she often gets along better with guys, which means that if she and the three men on her tribe get together, that’s an instant alliance that would give them all a little bit of breathing room.

Aside from the physicality of it, Cydney is someone who values a sense of humor and understands that it’s essential in this game sometimes to make people laugh. Truer words have never been said! You have to be someone people want to be around.

Disadvantages – Our biggest fear is that in order to be a bodybuilder, you have to follow a really rigorous, specific diet that is high in protein. There’s not a lot of protein to go around on “Survivor” sometimes. This show could take a serious toll on her the longer she is in it compared to some of the other players, and we worry about how someone used to such an intense regimen will hold up after a few weeks of something completely different.

Prediction – Given that Cydney needs the money to pay off medical school, she’s probably going to buy her at time at first and then play super-hard after the merge. Unfortunately, the thing to remember here is that at the time this season filmed, “Worlds Apart” hadn’t ended yet and Tony’s win was relatively fresh still in people’s minds. We could see her ultimately playing so hard that she plays her way out of the game right around the merge, and since we don’t see her as an altogether deceptive player, she could get caught.
