‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Show boss on the Reverse-Flash’s return!

Season 2 of “The Flash” has given us many surprises so far over the course of the episodes we’ve seen, but few could ultimately produce a bigger bang than the return of Eobard Thawne a.k.a. the Reverse Flash on the next new episode of the show Tuesday. It’s strange to see him, especially given the circumstances. Technically, he is dead in the timeline that Barry Allen and company know, but when they meet him Tuesday, it will technically be before he has made it back to the past, and also inhabited the body of Earth-1 Harrison Wells. Therefore, he may be a little more distant from Barry and it changes the dynamic.

In setting up what could be a pretty epic / awesome episode in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said the following:

“What’s interesting about it is this Thawne hasn’t experienced last season yet, and Barry has. On Barry’s side, there’s a lot stronger feelings — a lot more anger, a lot more betrayal, and in some cases, that’s blinding Barry to what he needs to do. It’s really an episode about Barry coming to terms with what he wants to do and what he should do regarding this version of Thawne. There are some great surprises and some character interactions between this Thawne and all of our characters. Again, they all have the benefit of having enjoyed last season and he hasn’t.”

What remains interesting about the Reverse-Flash’s journey on the show is that it is very will possible that you could still see him again in the future, and it could still be further in the character’s past. With any other show, it’d be absurd; but with this one, it totally makes sense.
