‘The X-Files’ season 10, episode 2 preview: The next story for Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny

X-Files -Tonight, “The X-Files” premiered on Fox with an episode in “My Struggle” that was definitely many years in the waiting. It had somewhat of a kitchen-sink effect to it, and while we’re not necessarily going to say that this is the finest episode in the show’s run, we will say that it was so wonderful and nostalgic to have the series back after so many years. We still cannot believe that it is even happening! The experience of watching this show and following along on Twitter was one of the most joyous things we’ve been a part of writing on CarterMatt for some time.

Just in case you are wondering where this story is going moving now into Monday night’s new episode entitled “Founder’s Mutation,” the synopsis below via Fox seems to make everything all the clearer:

“When a scientist suddenly commits suicide, Mulder and Scully investigate what unseen force may have driven him to it. What they uncover is a laboratory where extreme genetic experimentation has been going on for decades, breeding subjects who possess unexpected and dangerous powers – and who harbor deep resentments.”

Isn’t it nice to see David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson back on the screen again? Their collaboration will continue, and while we will continue to get further evidence of just how much the world has changed over the course of the next five episodes, we’re also going to have a chance to be reminded of how much things are also still the same. No matter how much more information we get about the X-Files and the secret of extraterrestrial life, this is still a show about belief, conspiracy, and searching for a truth.
