‘American Idol 15’ video: ‘Blue’ Leann McIsaac, ‘traveling nomad,’ writes for judges

American Idol -Thursday night marks another new episode of “American Idol,” and for this two-hour affair we’re going to have an opportunity to see some more interesting names try out in a couple of different venues. Let’s hope that the overall talent level is better than what we saw on the episode Wednesday.

One of the contestants we’ve seen in Fox’s promotional videos certainly has our eye in “Blue” Leann McIaac, mostly because we have never seen anyone on the show do anything quite like her before. She has an interesting story as a traveling “nomad” who has lived everywhere from Hawaii to Iceland, and she’s also someone with possibly the most folksy voice we have ever heard on the show. It’s going to really appeal to some, while at the same time there are going to be other people who hate it. We can’t imagine many people being lukewarm.

We’re among the group who finds her interesting, especially with her whole notion of coming up for a song on the spot to sing for the judges. We’ve heard so many people already audition to songs that we’ve heard for several years running, and we prefer there to be a little bit of uniqueness in the mix as well. Think of her along the lines of a Joey Cook, who made it pretty far on the show last year. That’s about the only comparison we can make.

We’ll be back tonight with a full review of everyone who performs. Stay tuned!
