‘American Idol 15’ video: Latest preview all about love (sort of)

American Idol -There’s another new episode of “American Idol” coming on Fox Wednesday night, and rather than spending our time today focusing on a contestant individually, we’re talking a look back at basically the past fourteen seasons and memorable contestants.

Specifically, we’re talking about the people who love to love. We’ve seen many examples of this over the years. with some performers, they have used the auditions as a way to hit on some of the judges (it happened some with Paula Abdul, and it seems to happen constantly with Jennifer Lopez). Also, they have used it to celebrate some big romantic moment for their significant others. We’ve had spouses, partners, and simply dating couples try out together. (We even had something like this play out last week, though the ending of it was a little more uncomfortable than many would have predicted.)

Are these moments iconic to reality TV? Probably not, mostly because they are so forgettable. While there are many great auditions that we remember from some of the show’s legendary singers, there are really only a few goofy auditions that we remember from the past several years:

1. William Hung, because how can you not?

2. “Pants on the Ground” guy from season 9.

3. Harry Connick Jr. cradling a contestant from his first season as a judge, who was actually pretty good.

4. Bikini Girl and how uncomfortable she seemed to make Ryan Seacrest.

The rest are montages that just blow by in our head, from contestants screaming at the judges to people who forget the lyrics to Simon Cowell just telling people off. The further and further we get into the show, the harder it is to remember specifics. If the show lasted another 15 years, who knows what we’d remember.
