‘Scandal’ season 5: See star Tony Goldwyn have fun with Hillary Clinton on ‘Ellen’

Take another look -

Who would have imagined that we would be seeing Tony Goldwyn and Hillary Clinton in the same room anytime soon? It’s a funny conceit, and it is something that Ellen DeGeneres made happen on her daytime talk show this week. The video below is all the evidence you need.

Ellen’s explanation for playing a game featuring the two is simple: Since Goldwyn plays the President on “Scandal,” it made sense for him to meet someone who is in many ways applying for the job. He was a good sport about being introduced as Fitzgerald Grant rather than his own name, and he watched Hillary and Ellen both take part in a rather silly game that bears some similarities to charades.

As for why Hillary probably wanted to do things, it is a classic political move during campaign season: You want to get face time on many popular shows, and you also want to show that you have a human, funny side. This is why Chris Christie dances on “The Tonight Show” or why we see Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live.” It doesn’t mean that all of these attempts are necessarily successful, but it makes some sense that this is why they all decide to take part in such events.

“Scandal” is going to return to ABC with new episodes come February, and you better believe that we’re going to have some more information all about what is coming up on those installments as soon as we’ve got the info!
