‘Arrow’ season 4: Stephen Amell not leaving now (or anytime soon)
While we’re not entirely sure why there was ever a rumor that Stephen Amell was leaving “Arrow” (doing “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” does not mean that he is completely over this show and interested into moving on to other things), the fact is that we’ve seen many people talking about it. Our main guess is just that it’s been weeks since the last new episode, and people are bored.
Just to clarify things, though, Stephen did something that not all TV actors like to do, and that is reveal the full length of his remaining contract. Here’s what he wrote in response to the rumors on Facebook:
“Facebook… I keep reading that I’m leaving Arrow. I’m not. I have a contract that runs through 2019. At least. Now… That doesn’t mean Arrow will run that long, but if it does… I’ll be here.”
What this means is that there are at least three more seasons in which Amell is under contract with the show, bringing him to the end of season 7. Many TV shows sign their cast to six-year deals at the very beginning, with some choosing to either sign for seven instead or have options for a seventh that is picked up if certain conditions are met. We are not an actor on “Arrow,” so therefore we don’t know the case here. That is what is typically funny, though, about many of the rumors about any odd actor leaving a show. Odds are, they’re probably under contract if they are still within the first seven seasons, and it has to be a pretty specific situation where someone gets let out of it to do other things.
Ultimately, we’re just glad that we’re getting at least another batch of “Arrow” starting January 20 … and we’re sure there will at least be a season 5. The ratings are still as strong as they’ve been for the past few years.
