‘Chicago PD’ season 3 spoilers: Devastating news ahead for Voight in three-part crossover

Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard that the third and final part in the “Chicago Fire” – “Chicago Med” – “Chicago PD” crossover event beginning on January 5 was one that could have some consequences for Voight … but little did we know that they would be as shocking as they are turning out.

The second part of the crossover event (set at Chicago Med) is going to focus in part on Dr. Dean Reybold, a doctor that has been accused of at times over-medicating to the point where he is intentionally murdering some of his patients. According to Entertainment Weekly, the personal connection to Voight has to do primarily with the fact that he was the doctor looking after his late wife, and may be responsible in some way for her death.

Here is what executive producer Matt Olmstead had to say on the subject to the website:

“In this inaugural three-Chicago-show crossover, viewers are going to have the opportunity to see a side of Jason Beghe’s Voight that they haven’t experienced yet. It’s personal, emotional, and there’s a good chance viewers may find a new level of compassion for him as this case brings up feelings from his past.”

The investigation of the doctor will carry over into “Chicago PD” on January 6, where hopefully Voight will start to have some answers and, if the situation calls for it, some justice. This is going to be a very interesting case to watch unfold as we push further and further ahead into the season. How will this potential revelation shape who he is as a cop? Is it going to make him more suspicions of other people, with medical professionals at the top of the list? Time will tell.
