Patrick Dempsey remains coy on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ exit, Shonda Rhimes
We are now several months removed from Patrick Dempsey’s exit from “Grey’s Anatomy,” and yet at the same time this is still the questions that he spends the bulk of his time answering.
Is it possible that things would be even more in the rear-view mirror now were it now for Shonda Rhimes? We presume so. What happened was that a matter of weeks ago during an appearance on “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore,” Rhimes revealed that she has killed off a character before because she didn’t like the actor playing them. Was that Patrick? We don’t really think so personally, since we feel his exit was more of a function of him wanting to focus on racing rather than continuing to play this character.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, Dempsey would not dive too much into the subject one way or another:
“I think she loves being provocative and that’s fine for who she is. That gets people talking about all the stuff that she’s doing. She’s an amazing woman who is incredibly productive. She’s promoting a book. She’s promoting three shows. And she’s emerging as the star of all of these things. I think she knows how to deal with the media and what she needs to say to get the response that she’s looking for. She’s very savvy.”
Ultimately, we don’t think that Dempsey really even cares too much about whether or not people think that his exit from the show was amicable or not, mostly because of the fact that he has other things going on. In addition to his racing career he also is filming the latest “Bridget Jones” movie, which he claims has given him new life after spending more time as of late focusing on some other things.
