‘Arrow’ season 4 debate: Talking the latest Felicity – Oracle rumors

Is Felicity Smoak really Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Oracle in disguise? This is something that we could be seeing some more information on throughout “Arrow” season 4 … or it is something that we are not going to see at all.

While we already are pretty much certain that we are not going to see Felicity die following the cliffhanger in the winter finale, there are still some other possibilities for what could happen to her. Having her become paralyzed, even temporarily, would further along the Barbara comparisons. She already is a little bit of an Oracle in the way she communicates with the rest of the team, and executive producer Marc Guggenheim made it clear on Tumblr previously that they are going to be revealing a code-name for Felicity at some point in the 11th episode of the season. Also, he confirmed that the nickname is going to have an “A” in it.

We think it’s tempting to label Felicity Oracle given what she does already for Team Arrow and the set of skills she could implement in the future, but our ultimate stance on it is the same that it has always been from the beginning: If Felicity is an awesome character on her own, why transform her into something else? What’s the point? This is what can be said already for John Diggle not becoming John Stewart a.k.a. Green Lantern. If you already have someone else who is beloved to the point that they have action figures made of them, do they really need to be anything more?

“Arrow” will return on January 20 to The CW, so we imagine we’ll have more news then.
