‘Vikings’ season 4 premiere date confirmed by History, will run longer than expected
Who anticipated that we would get so much of “Vikings” for its upcoming fourth season? We are not complaining, but certainly are surprised.
Today, it was announced that the History series will be premiering on Thursday, February 18 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. As if this was not enough for you, this season will also have a whopping twenty episodes! The first ten are going to air in the winter / spring, while after that the remaining ones are going to air at some predetermined point later in the year. Given the intensity of some of the show’s action sequences, we don’t have much of an idea how they can even make 20 episodes in a single season! It is a little bit different than a crime procedural churning out 24 when they can use so many of the same sets and don’t have to do a whole lot of location work.
“Vikings” has become an institution on the network as one of its few, but great, original scripted series. It has amassed a loyal following, and for our money it is probably one of the most underrated series on TV. It will be interesting to see if airing this many episodes, and also adopting this split-season format, really does end up paying some big dividends.
We will be here with some other updates and coverage throughout season 4, whether it be reviews, previews, or some other scoop here and there. With that in mind, be sure to come back in the near future for some further insight and more.
