‘Outlander’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Crimson Field’ actor Richard Rankin set to play Roger!

While there are still some major “Outlander” mysteries to be solved for the upcoming second season, we are at least pleased today to answer this: Who will be playing Roger on the upcoming second season.

Starz has now confirmed that Richard Rankin, who is best known for his work on “The Crimson Field” and “Burnt,” has been cast to play the key role. We won’t say too much about it for those unfamiliar with the Diana Gabaldon source material, but this is one of the most integral roles that the series has cast to date beyond the leads. Given that so much of season 2 has been filmed already we cannot imagine his role in the upcoming 13 episodes to be enormous; however, he will spend a good deal of time with the Brianna character and could be a driving force in many stories in the future.

The second season of the series will be premiering on Starz in the spring, and this is coming off of what is a tremendous past seven days or so. The show scored multiple nominations for the 2016 Golden Globes, and many small tidbits have been released by the network in their #OutlanderOfferings, including a video teaser.
