‘Arrow’ season 4, episode 9 video: Will Damien Darhk destroy Oliver, Felicity?

The more that we are seeing of the “Arrow” midseason finale airing on Wednesday, the more we begin to realize how big of an episode this one may be. Characters could die, Oliver Queen could have a new outlook on running for Mayor, and Damien Darhk may be able to show everyone just how terrible he truly is.

Here is what is a little tricky with Darhk right now as a villain: While we have loved seeing Neal McDonough completely crush it in this role, the reality here is still that we haven’t seen him actually succeed in many of his evil schemes. He is almost the Wile E. Coyote of the “Arrow” universe; every time he gets close to winning, something happens to change things up. We don’t want to root for the villains, but Darhk needs a further reason to be feared.

What we find somewhat interesting about “Dark Waters” as an episode is that, at least at first, Darhk doesn’t actually seem to be going after the Green Arrow so much as he is Oliver Queen himself. He doesn’t know the connection, but is well aware of the idea that he Oliver is someone he cannot control. With that, he is a threat that needs to be taken out. Could Oliver and Felicity be separated or even killed? Well, the show doesn’t exist without Stephen Amell, but there have certainly been some out there wondering whether or not Felicity is going to make it through this season in one piece.
