Ratings: ‘Arrow’ season 4 up with crossover; ‘Empire’ season 2, ‘Rosewood,’ more improve

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that there were massive increases across the board for Wednesday night’s ratings. after all, the majority of the lineup was either in repeats the day before Thanksgiving last week, or they lost viewers to people who were all getting ready for the big dinner in advance.

The winners – The biggest one has to be “Arrow,” which for the second straight year benefited in a huge way from its crossover with “The Flash.” The show drew a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic following the final adjustment, and while it’s pretty unlikely that most of these people will stick around in the long-term, it’s nice for them at least be there for a single week to further along this story.

Also this week, “Empire” made a substantial recovery all the way to a 4.5 rating, and “Rosewood” (1.5) and “Survivor” (2.1) each recovered in their own right. With “Empire” in particular, the show has reached what is its leveling-off point, which is somewhere between a 4.1 and a 4.5.

The losers – Mostly, we’re looking at the ABC lineup, as “The Middle” (2.0), “The Goldbergs” (2.0), “Modern Family” (2.4), and “black-ish” (1.6) all experienced some declines in one way or another. With “black-ish” in particular, you’ve got a show that is now at a season low. We would not say that any of them are in any danger, though. As a matter of fact, these ratings that almost any other network would beg for at this point when it comes to comedies. These numbers are, unfortunately, hard to come by these days.
