‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: Carlos Valdes to make mystery appearance as Cisco

While the notion of a star of “The Flash” like Carlos Valdes appearing on “Legends of Tomorrow” may not be altogether earth-shattering at first, consider this: With the basic premise of this show being time-travel, almost every cameo is all the more impactful.

Take, for instance, the news per Entertainment Weekly that Carlos Valdes is set to turn up as Cisco Ramon on an early episode of the CW series. While it is possible that he makes an appearance in the present, executive producer Marc Guggenheim certainly makes us wonder whether or not he will be turning up in the future or the past:

“Part of the fun of Legends is the fact that it takes place all throughout history — future and past … One of the things we’re having so much fun with is the fact that everything is up for grabs, everything is possible.”

The future for Cisco is arguably the most compelling, given that if he ever hones his powers as Vibe completely, he could start to be in a position where he is an essential part of the team out in the field in addition to being out there in STAR Labs. It’s a little bit of a different position than we have with Caitlin Snow, who could some day be the notorious villain Killer Frost. (We should once again make it clear that we really hope the show is not just giving you Earth-2 Caitlin as the villain, since that seems like it would be the show taking the easy way out.)

At the moment, Cisco is firmly a part of the “Flash” universe, though he recently had a romance with Kendra Saunders prior to her realizing that she is actually Hawkgirl. You can read more about that in the review here of last night’s crossover episode.
