Ratings: ‘The Flash,’ ‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Scream Queens,’ ‘iZombie’ rise; ‘Fresh Off the Boat’ down (12/1/2015)

One of the best things for the major TV networks after Thanksgiving Week is that they can spin ratings in any way that they want, and we’re pretty sure that they are doing just that with some of the latest numbers that have been released today.

The winners – There were many shows posting big improvements, but “Chicago Med” (2.0) likely earned itself a full season with its ratings Tuesday. Meanwhile, “Chicago Fire” (1.9) also improved, and “Scream Queens” (0.9) and “iZombie” (0.6) were right there with it. The one thing we’ll say about “iZombie” is that it does have a tendency to adjust down in the final numbers.

Also, the first part of the “Flash” / “Arrow” crossover on Tuesday improved ever so slightly at 1.4, but you probably won’t see much of a different in base number. “The Flash” has a tendency often to adjust up in the finals. “The Voice” (2.6) ended up winning the night overall, which is no surprise.

The losers – There aren’t many this time around, but “The Muppets” (1.1) and “Fresh Off the Boat” (1.2) are continuing to decline. We’ve actually caught up a little bit with the former over the holiday break, and we’re starting to understand why its numbers have fallen so much; it’s missing something, whether it be humor or having the human presence alongside many of the puppets that we’ve seen in some of the other great Muppet works over the years.

These comedies are both coming back in the new year, so at least you can rest assured that there is not going to be any immediately cancellation for either of them in the near future.
