‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Candice Patton teases big Christmas episode

Iris -

The second season of “The Flash” has been so far about a variety of different things, whether it be identity, discovery, or even family in different ways. While we’ve seen Barry’s family go through a surprising twist in the departure of Henry Allen from Central City, there is the arrival of someone else from the West side of things: Wally. He is the son Joe West never knew he had, and at the moment, he still does not. That could change on the show’s December 8 episode, which is both a celebration of Christmas and the midseason finale.

Speaking to TVLine, Candice Patton (who is set to have a big role in the episode) says the story is “a lot about family, which is a big plot point for Iris this season, so that’s really exciting … It’s a good Christmas episode, just like the last one. Good villain, good love and good heart.” Wally West has a major storyline in the comics, and while his relationship with Iris is going to be a little different in the show, plans are for him to be an integral part of the back half of this season.

In speaking about villains further, there are specifically going to be a pair of them who turn up. Liam McIntyre will once again be back as the Weather Wizard, and this time he is not alone. Mark Hamill will also return as the Trickster, giving the show a boost of star power right before “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” arrives in theaters.

Will there be a cliffhanger until the new year? Given that the show probably wants to give fans something to look forward to, we’d certainly say that it is possible.
