Late-night notes: Adele performs with Jimmy Fallon; Seth Meyers goes in-depth on Donald Trump
Like the majority of the other people out there, this week some of TV’s top late-night hosts are going to get a chance to sit back, relax, and spend some time with their loved ones over the holidays. Before we get around to that, though, we’ve got some notable moments from the week in late-night so far!
1. Jimmy Fallon and Adele team up – At this particular point in time, there’s really nothing original at all about watching the “Tonight Show” host do a musical collaboration with someone while getting the Roots to join him with children’s instruments. Yet, the “Hello” video he posted with Adele is still awesome … mostly because it is Adele. Also, it works really well despite our concerns that this backing music would make the song a little cheesy and lose some of its gravitas.
Adele is of course promoting her new album “25,” and just days ago she performed a more traditional version of her hit on “Saturday Night Live.”
2. Seth Meyers on Donald Trump – This video featuring Seth is particularly interesting, given the fact that while many late-night hosts on network TV have taken turns telling jokes about the Presidential candidate, few have gone directly on the offensive in the way that Meyers did here. It feels more like a segment on “The Daily Show” or “Real Time with Bill Maher” than a typical late-night show; we’re not going to spend much time discussing the politics of it all here (we’re not that sort of site), but it is getting a lot of play across the internet.
Take a look at the segment below, and then let us know what you think in the comments.
