‘Luther’ season 4: Idris Elba posts new promo, December 15 air date confirmed

Luther

For all of those who love “Luther” and have been waiting patiently for more information, we’ve got some great news for you now: The time of waiting is at an end. BBC One has finally confirmed that the drama will premiere on December 15, and star Idris Elba posted another short, extremely cryptic tease below that reminds us that there are plenty of people out there who really should be worried about Luther … and we agree.

When season 4 picks up, the title character will have been living a relatively-reclusive life. So what causes him to get roped back into some of his old ways of solving shocking crimes? That is part of the mystery, but we expect something both thoroughly engrossing and heavily entertaining. If it was not, we have a hard time imagining that Elba would really be interested in coming back. That is one of the joys about shows like this and “Sherlock”; the actors have more freedom to come and go as they please, and allow the content creators to make the right story rather than something that is rushed.

Suffice it to say, this is a show that we are going to be covering extensively throughout the weeks ahead as we get closer to it started up. For viewers in America, the show will air as a major event on December 17. No matter where you live, you’ve got something tremendous to look forward to. Now, let’s just hope that it lives up to our weighty expectations.
