‘Doctor Who’ season 9 Christmas Special joins ‘Sherlock’ season 4 with theatrical run
Who would’ve guessed years ago that watching British television would be so popular on the big screen? It may be somewhat surprising, but obviously this tradition has performed well enough over the past couple of years that BBC has an interest in keeping it going.
Earlier this week, the network announced that they will be screening the upcoming “Doctor Who” season 9 Christmas Special on December 28 and 29. If you want some more news right now, we suggest heading over to the page on Fathom Events. While this may be a few days after it airs around the world, it is a chance to experience it first-hand with Whovians in your local area.
If you haven’t seen the official tease from the network just yet, take a look at it below:
“It’s Christmas Day in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. Time traveler River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.”
If we were to make a guess, we anticipate that Jenna Coleman will be gone from the series by the time it airs. This would explain the need to have Kingston around, since it would give someone else for The Doctor to communicate with in some way.
As we referenced earlier, the BBC is very active with theatrical runs right now. It was recently announced that the “Sherlock” special “The Abominable Bride” will be screening in theaters on January 5 and 6, days after it first airs in both the United States and Great Britain.
