Tonight’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory” may have been in some ways imperfect insofar as a great story goes, but we will say this: It had what may be our funniest moment of the entire season so far. We are, of course, speaking specifically of the arrival of Sheldon Cooper’s “perfect woman” arriving right to his door. This came after an exhaustive search by the likes of Howard and Raj led to the two parties meeting.
So what happened from here? You could feel the chemistry, the shared interests, and the desire from her to meet someone like Sheldon. The problem is that she was a few seconds too late for the deadline Sheldon put on the ad, and he sent her away. It was such a left turn that we couldn’t help but almost die laughing. It shows, yet again, why Sheldon may really need to hope for things to work out between him and Amy. There may be no one else remotely right for him.
Amy, meanwhile, ended up turning away a man named Dave (Stephen Merchant) after she realized that rather than dating Sheldon Cooper, she was basically dating his biggest fan. Not attractive. This story was a little less funny than Sheldon’s, but we did enjoy Bernadette and Penny spying (with Leonard’s help … sort of) to see just what the two were up to.
In the end, we think this journey into dating will help Sheldon and Amy realize that if they are going to be with someone, they should be with each other … provided of course Sheldon gets his eccentricities under control. He still has a lot he needs to do before he is ready to treat Amy right in a relationship. Episode Grade: B.
