‘Shark Tank’ preview: Wink Frozen Desserts, Savvy Naturals, Clean Cube, Simply Fit Board, and Tipsy Elves
There is another episode of “Shark Tank” coming to ABC on Friday night, and we are continuing to question what ABC is doing with this show. Why? Apparently, we’re getting another cameo from Jimmy Kimmel as he and sidekick Guillermo decide to pitch another “product” in the Tank. These things are taking time away from the real purpose of the show; we like Kimmel, but do we need them? Maybe we are either a bit old-school, or simply a curmudgeon.
Either way, the synopsis below should do a good job giving you some further details in terms of what to expect from the products themselves:
“A couple from Stamford, CT have discovered a guilt-free version of ice cream with only 100 calories for the entire pint; a husband and wife team from Chatsworth, CA who are also professional chefs, used their culinary skills to come up with soaps and lotions you could actually eat; two men from New York City have solved the problem of missing deliveries at home, and a mother & daughter team from the Denver, Colorado area pitch a fun and convenient way to stay fit and fight the battle of the bulge with one simple product. And an update on Tipsy Elves, the ugly holiday sweater company from San Diego, CA that Robert Herjavec invested in during Season 5, reveals an exciting big deal.”
Wink Frozen Desserts – Their claim of a low-calorie version of ice cream is intriguing, and we like their packaging and design. Even their logo is cute and lines up well with what we believe their messaging to be. To us, their success is going to be based first on the presentation, and then whether or not it actually is tasty. That’s something that is much harder to judge.
Clean Cube – This is ambitious. Basically, it’s a technology designed to make things like dry cleaning, deliveries, laundry, and other day-to-day chores more convenient within the lobby of an apart building / condominium. We like the idea of solving a problem, but how are you going to convince buildings that this is worthy of an investment? Maybe this can be a game-changer, but past “Shark Tank” history with similar products dictates that this will probably not end with a deal.
Simply Fit Board – This looks a whole lot like a Wii Balance Board to us minus the Wii; aside from that, we think that any product that is about promoting physical fitness is something the Sharks will have an interest in biting into. What we worry about here is the same thing we worry about with any fitness product: Are the Sharks going to be able to measure results within the context of a pitch?
Savvy Naturals – Remember, just because you “could” eat them doesn’t mean you should. These soaps are for cleaning first and foremost, and they all sound fragrant and interesting. Beauty products are a dime-a-dozen at the moment and in the Tank, but we like the design and the varieties that they have. Our big concern here is the name, given that it just doesn’t do anything to get us excited.
