‘Scorpion’ season 2, episode 8 preview: Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, and ‘Area 51’

Let this be some sort of unwritten rule somewhere when it comes to making TV episodes: If you are entitling an upcoming episode “Area 51,” conventional wisdom suggests that it is probably going to be awesome. This is the position that we are in with the next new installment of “Scorpion,” which is coming your way on CBS in just one week’s time.

The unfortunate bit of news here is that the synopsis below does not give a whole lot of insight into what Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, and the remainder of the cast are going to be up to. With that being said, they are supposedly heading to the aforementioned place of great mystery, and we have to think that for many of you, having that information will be enough to make you happy:

“To help fund Walter’s research into saving his sister’s life, Team Scorpion takes a lucrative job for the CIA to find a top-secret aircraft in the mysterious Area 51.”

Does this episode sound like a hoot to anyone else? It certainly does to us, given the possibility of the show figuring out a way to throw alien life in here somewhere. While it may be a ridiculous concept to think about, sometimes ridiculous concepts do make some of the best episodes! We’re just hoping that the same thing ends up being true here. We’ll have a chance to find out soon, and kudos to CBS for giving us such a meaty run of new “Scorpion” episodes so early in the new year in order to properly digest and enjoy.
