‘Sherlock’ season 4: Andrew Scott still denying return chatter

Sherlock season 3If Andrew Scott really is going to surface once more as Moriarty on “Sherlock,” he is doing a very good job hiding it. A very good job. For the time being, we’re still thinking as though the character is dead, but who knows if that really is true? For now, we have to take the actor at his word.

As a part of a new interview on “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories,” the actor dismissed talk about appearing on the upcoming New Year’s Special for the simple reason that he does not have a character to go back to:

“I wouldn’t know about anything to do with the special because my character died … I’ve finished on that one.”

We do believe Scott when he says that he will not be a part of the special, though at the same time we do very much think that he could have turned up easily there had he really wanted to. After all, this is a show that is not really following any canon from the standard “Sherlock” since we are going back to the Victorian era.

As for the story in the present, we do think it’d be cool if Moriarty turned back up given the end of season 3. However, at the same exact time this is a show that really is bigger than any one adversary. Plus, how much of people pretending to be dead can you really fit into a single show? It’s a worthy question to ask.
