‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: The funny in Firestorm?

LegendsThis past episode of “The Flash” on The CW served a variety of different purposes, but it is hard to argue that one of the primary ones was getting to see Jefferson Jackson a.k.a. Jax and Martin Stein team up to the be the new Firestorm. These two are going to head off to train for a while, but then later this year, they will probable surface once more for the epic crossover event on both “The Flash” and “Arrow” that sets up “Legends of Tomorrow.”

While you are probably going to see a wide array of action and heroics from the new Firestorm, there’s apparently also something else that the new team-up for Dr. Stein and Jax allows: Humor. This is something that executive producer Andrew Kreisberg teased in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“The idea of a second Firestorm being somebody who was just in his early 20s, somebody who was radically different from this Firestorm, so here you got to see the camaraderie, and when you see Legends, you’re going to see a lot more of the, ‘What the hell are you talking about? Why are we doing this?’ while they’re merged … There’s a lot more room for comedy with the Firestorm character than we previously had before. It’s a freshness and an excitement.”

We hope mostly that this Firestorm character brings a different dynamic to “Legends” than more or less any other character on the show. They have that inner conflict in addition to all of the external problems they face. In an absence of some other things like love interests or a deep history on the show, this should keep them fascinating.
