When “NCIS” airs its next new episode on CBS next week, it is going to be highlighting someone we haven’t seen have a big story in quite some time: Ducky. The last major spotlight we had was “So It Goes” last season, but on next week’s “16 Years,” you are going to see what is apparently a big secret from his past ends up having a major role in a case.
If you haven’t seen the synopsis just yet featuring David McCallum in a spotlight role, check out the attached synopsis:
“The NCIS murder case of a retired Navy Lieutenant Commander forces Ducky to reveal his participation in a secret society that solves cold cases, on NCIS, Tuesday, Nov. 3 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. Jessica Walter guest stars as Judith McKnight and Richard Riehle guest stars as Walt Osorio, both members of the secret society.”
The timing does seem right for a story focusing on a specific member of the supporting cast, given that in the premiere and later in the November sweeps, you want the focus to be more on the long-term story … which for now, just so happens to be Gibbs’ physical state and his recovery. Fittingly, we will see a little more about that later this season, though there will be some other great stories introduced soon to go along with it. This is a show that likes to juggle a wide array of different things at the same time, and it’s with that in mind that we think this this is a pattern that will continue.
