‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 6 review: Sheldon, Leonard hit the black market
Monday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory” was the last one before the show returns to Thursday, so did it end its reign on Mondays with a bang? We’re not quite sure that we’d say that just yet. Instead, it was a solid episode that combined some humor and heart, and reminded us that while Sheldon and Leonard are desperate to finish their work, they’re not willing to do so using less-than-approved means.
For most of the half-hour, the two guys interacted with a dealer (the genius Michael Rapaport) who offered to sell them helium on the black market (or at least what they considered to be the black market). However, upon the conclusion of the deal, you got the sense almost immediately that the two regretted the move. They decided to eventually return it, only to meet some less-than-favorable results.
Most of this was pretty funny and played into their distinctive voices, and in the end, they got what they wanted from Barry … with the caveat that Barry’s name got to be on the paper. This was really the only reason why this story matters in the long-term, since it potentially could guarantee Kripke more screen time.
Surprisingly, the B-story was even more important since it showed that Amy has been off dating people even in spite of an app that was being thrown at her. She could do things on her own … but there were no major results to come out of it. It’s nothing serious, but she is starting to look at a future without Sheldon. Do you think he is going to handle this will?
While most of the half-hour was a one-off, we’d still consider it fun. We were entertained throughout, and we’re always glad to have Rapaport on our TV. Grade: B.

It was dud. The Amy story is not a story but a bit that should have taken 10 seconds but they’ve stretched the life out of without commiting Amy to any self discovery or progress. On the couch everyone had dumbed down more than Penny. Sheldon and Leonard grow more as baffoons than men. I’ve been a fan for 9 seasons but it’s twilight time as the writer’s are just phoning it in.
