‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 5 review: Does Amy want to date Barry?

Big Bang -Tonight’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory” revolved around a variety of different events, whether it be fencing class or a tutorial in making the comic-book story more appealing to women.

Interestingly, though, the biggest matter that was discussed was a matter of a heart. After getting a lengthy and hilarious session in fencing from Barry Kripke, the man then decided to go through the stress of asking her out on a date. She said no, but it was still important since seeing Barry do this inspired Sheldon to do some work on his own, “asking out” some women at a sports bar after the class.

Basically, we traveled over the course of this episode to a place where we now have Amy and Sheldon possibly ready to see other people, which sounds like a hilarious concept. If we were worried about their long-term future, we would be more upset over this. As it is, though, we feel like there’s some potential for some really silly stuff to come out of this particular series of events.

As for Stuart and his comic store, this was yet another person for Amy to reject. Also, it was silly and funny and inappropriate in the way that most Stuart stories are. We find him a fun person to watch in doses like this, but what made this episode work as a whole was the writing. There were probably more jokes per minute here than any other hour, with Raj, Stuart, Bernadette, and Sheldon getting the best zingers. En garde! Episode Grade: A-.
