‘NCIS’ season 13, episode 5 video: Take a further look at Abby-centric ‘Lockdown’
At times, “NCIS” can be a show that suffers from too much familiarity. You have a crime, a few twists and turns during the investigation, and then often a resolution that the team is happy with. Agent Gibbs is at the forefront of the majority of them, but from time to time you do get some further contributions from McGee, Tony, and now also Bishop.
However, it’s not often like you get an Abby-focused story quite like the one we are going to have in “Lockdown,” the new episode of the CBS series that is going to air on Tuesday. The preview video below certainly makes it seem like she is going to be front and center for a key investigation, one that could feature her battling some janitors who turn out to be more than what they claim to be. While Gibbs and company will do what they can on the outside, Pauley Perrette’s character may have to stay in the forefront and take charge of a dangerous hostage situation on the inside.
By the end of the episode, we hope that we feel like this has given us something different, and a satisfying arc for this character that proves that she’s learned quite a bit from her interactions with some of the other members of the team. These characters at the NCIS are all heroes, but they choose to go about it for the most part in a variety of different ways. It’ll be nice to see Abby in the action!

Actually, it might be interesting to see Abby grow a bit. She has a history of going into meltdown when in difficult and not so difficult situations–for example the fear of autopsy, the fear of not being enough, the initial fear of meeting her biological brother, Kyle and dealing with the stalker ex boyfriend. Seeing her face the bad guys and taking charge would be a nice turn of events.

Don’t forget we have seen kickass!Abby before – when she dealt with Chip, and when she beat the crap out of that guy who kidnapped her and put her in the van (“Don’t look up my skirt!”) Unfortunately somewhere along the line we lost that Abby and ended up with babygirl!Abby. I, too, hope that this signals a return to the tougher, edgier Abby we used to get.

Paulley Perrette called Abby a “cartoon” character, because she never changes. I think that there are now so many people complaining about “Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs!” that maybe TPTB are letting the character change and grow up a bit. Was the guy that put her in the van, the clueless psycho stalker ex boyfriend?

No, it was a hit man, (pretending to be a US Marshall, who was supposed to drive her to court), hired by a person she was testifying against in court.

Yes, I remember that.
