‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ episode 2 preview: Angela Bassett introduces Ramona

AHSWhen you’ve got as many different characters as “American Horror Story: Hotel” does, one thing you realize almost immediately is that it is rather impossible to introduce all of them at once. Therefore, you have to space some of them out over time, and find a unique space for them to shine.

On Wednesday night’s new episode, one of these said people you are going to meet is Angela Bassett’s Ramona, a woman with a romantic history with Lady Gaga’s character The Countess … and also someone who could be at times either a rival or an adversary. This is going to be a fun story to watch unfold, and if you want to know more, just take a look at how the actress described the part in a chat with TV Guide:

“Ramona is an actress – she was an actress, rather. I think she’s rather retired right now. She came out of the business because she went into a long-standing, fulfilling relationship with The Countess, which was new for her. Until then she absolutely saw herself as a heterosexual woman, but she’s become more fluid. Isn’t that the term today? But things sort of went off the rails, so now they have this acrimonious relationship. I think they still care passionately, but they also are passionately opposed to one another’s happiness.”

Specifically, Bassett says that she may try to use Donovan (Matt Bomer) as a way to get to the Countess further, so we’ll just have to wait and see if that happens.

Above all else, we just imagine that Wednesday night’s new episode is going to be nuts. We were one of the critics who enjoyed the first episode, but mostly because we decided to view the show from a particularly campy lens rather than one professing that we are meant to take it seriously.
