‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5, episode 4 preview: The battle of ‘The Broken Kingdom’
At the end of Sunday night’s “Once Upon a Time” episode, we finally learned the true fate of Rumpelstiltskin: He is alive! However, this wonderful moment came with some consequences to go along with it: Emma wants to control him completely in order to do her bidding. This may be something that should be met with resistance, but is far from the only major story thread in “The Broken Kingdom,” which is set to air on ABC next week.
One of the biggest and most surprising developments at the moment is the dramatic change for King Arthur. It was only in this episode when we started to learn that he is not entirely heroic; he has his own motivations for wanting to free up Excalibur, and that is to preserve and protect his kingdom at all costs. He enjoys wielding his power, really to the point that it goes to his head.
Eventually, this thirst of his will lead to one of the more heated moments of the entire hour, as Snow White, a newly-revived (or always alive?) Lancelot, and him come toe-to-toe while out in the forest. To think, this is just one episode after it was starting to look as though all of these people were about to be friends!
For anyone out there who does love their twists in “Once Upon a Time,” take our word for it that “The Broken Kingdom” should be fun; even the title exposes perfectly some of the flaws that are current prevalent in this place.
