“Arrow” is coming back on Wednesday night, and with that Oliver Queen now has a new alter ego to go along with it: Green Arrow.
The preview below features co-showrunner Wendy Mericle explaining more of how the story is going to shift in the premiere, from being about Oliver’s new, domesticated life to how he ends up getting roped back into a life of fighting crime. He spent months away with Felicity rediscovering himself, while also figuring out that he can actually function like a normal human being. Now, at least part of that is being stripped away courtesy of Thea and Laurel coming and asking for his help.
These two women are no damsels in distress, though; they have spent an incredible amount of time honing their skills and becoming a crime-fighting team of their own accord. Unfortunately, there is only so much that they can do to contend with someone like Damien Darhk, who is going to prove in the early going why he is the Big Bad for the season. He is going to command a group of people known as the Ghosts to at least the residents of Star City, and seems to want nothing more than its ultimate destruction.
The best part of this video? It’s probably seeing Thea lament that she wanted people to call her the Red Arrow; instead, everyone is just (appropriately) running with Speedy. Congrats on having the cheesy nickname! Luckily, Thea will make it work. You have to have a pretty thick skin after spending so much time with Malcolm Merlyn.
