‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 premiere video: Merida and Emma face off

The fifth season of “Once Upon a Time” is coming our way on Sunday night, and with that, we know there is one new character many are looking forward to see: Merida. The star from “Brave” makes her first appearance in the premiere, and let’s just say that things are not exactly going to be going swimmingly between her and Emma Swan.

As the sneak peek below indicates, both she and Emma are going to be hunting the same exact thing, and for very important purposes. The real point of excitement here comes mostly in what the two parties are willing to do for it.

Is an epic fight scene on the way between the two? It seems like it, but unfortunately for Merida, we are not quite sure she knows what she is getting herself into. Emma still does not know how to channel her powers, and runs the risk of the darkness taking over at almost every turn. It seems that she was transported to this world after the events of the season 4 finale, which is why the Dagger cannot control her. She is in a separate world than Storybrooke, and therefore it is rendered useless.

With that being said, don’t expect many of the other characters to be away from her for too long. This is something that will more than likely change dramatically at some point before we get to even the midway point of the season.
