‘The Amazing Race 27’ video: The teams leave the starting line in Venice Beach

Amazing RaceThere are only two seasons of “The Amazing Race” where we have at least visited the starting line at some point in our lives: Season 25 when the show started in Times Square, and then season 27, when the show officially got things going in Venice Beach.

The sneak peek below features Phil Keoghan and some big-time fans of the show sending the teams off in the famed Los Angeles locale. Not only that, but the show is also getting in a Rob & Brennan cameo! These two guys were the original winners of the show, and it is nice to see the show embracing its past for those who have actually seen every single episode over the years. We do like for the most part the decision by the show to continually allow fans to hang out at the starting line with them. At this point, they are aware that people are going to stalk them out and try to spoil the show anyway, so it’s probably easier on production to just get the cast spoilers out of the way here in a controlled environment.

For the most part, we are fairly excited about this season. We do wish that there was a little less of the model / cheerleader type in the cast, but we do like that there are some people in here that seem to be serious fans of the show. The teams all look excited to get started, and our first destination is Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. This isn’t the first time that a season went to Brazil for the first leg, but at this point, it’s hard to really do anything new when you’ve been almost all over the world.

We’re going to be back with our review of the premiere tomorrow, and it’s crazy given that just earlier today we wrote our full review for “The Amazing Race Canada’s” season finale.
