‘Big Brother 17’ live feed spoilers: Endurance and little faith
Here is the thing: For the most part, we like to consider ourselves an optimist when it comes to games like “Big Brother,” and it is very much to think that at any given moment, someone can rise to the occasion and surprise us.
Unfortunately, this is not necessarily a season where we’ve seen that. Last season was frustrating in how few people knew how to beat Derrick strategically and few tribes. This time around, there are better strategists; however, there are few with that killer instinct.
Going into the first part of the final Head of Household tonight, we had zero evidence or expectation that anyone other than Vanessa would win. She’s done well in the past, and we just haven’t seen that drive from Steve and Liz to pull through. Vanessa’s got an advantage on them in age, and likely in having to battle adversity more often in her life (yes, we know she’s a millionaire now, but it wasn’t always that way). She knows the right mind-games to play on the other players, and how to constantly put herself in the best place.
For Steve, he’s a nice kid: Likable, kind, and relatable for many longtime fans of the show. He can win competitions, and he’s even done it at times when he really needed to. However, anytime he has really went head-to-head against Vanessa, it hasn’t worked. We’re not sure that it ever will. Does he have a chance if he wins part two and makes it to part three? Sure, only because it’s random. Steve should beat Liz in part two if there is a strong memory component, if only because he knows his stuff as well as he does.
We’ll give everyone credit tonight for working so hard: They were up on the challenge three and a half hours plus a little more, and that is something that the weak would not attempt. Yet, what tonight still showed us that when the chips are down, the poker player is going to find a way to take the hand. It’s so hard to see that changing.
